Catching up

Hi guys,

So it's been what... 24 days since my last blogpost? And it's not like nothing happened, cuz you know... kickstarter happened! 1,538,425 DOLLAR! I mean it's amazing, isn't it? It also means we are getting the directors cut, YAY!

Speaking of the directors cut, there is this guy. He was originally cut from the game, but brought back when the kickstarter hit 1 million. And let me tell you, this guy looks like bad news. This guy, Falk Friedman he is a corporate jager: a gun-for-hire used by multinationals to take care of any work they want done off the books. Anything they don't want the "Eye in the Sky to notice". He has been hired by WATIcorp to track down something or someone. Though Funcom didn't want to reveal who, or what this actually was.

The Directors cut brought some other character back to the saga, including Madame Nyx "The flamboyant proprietor of the House of Dreams", and Likho "a fierce, one-eyed Dolmari fighter and a member of the underground". This made me wonder, is this a thing they are doing with the Dolmari losing an eye in every game. I remember that Tun had three in TLJ, the Dolmari in Dreamfall had two, and now this guy has only one...

In other news I have been working on two small projects related to the Longest Journey saga. One being a short story written from the perspective of the White Dragon Reborn, not sure any of you will ever read that, but you know-- I might post it when I feel it is ready. I am not going to reveal any details about the second project I'm working on, but it's something I'm pretty excited about, and I really hope I can pull it off. That's all I'm gonna say on topic for now, just you know-- stay tuned yeah?

O by the way, the new Dreamfall Chapters forum has launched, and I decided that with the neat little blog option I would also post my blog post overthere, for those who prefer that. Of course that doesn't mean that I will abandon this blog, but you know am I just giving you guys a choice.

Well I think right now that is all I have for you guys, don't forget to check back, and you know-- have a nice week!

Stretch Goals

Hi guys,

So I want to talk about the Stretch Goals for the Kickstarter campaign. I know that by the time this post is released we've already reached a lot of those Stretch Goals, but I just want to give my opinion on every single one of them.

First up was Apples & Penguins which would allow Red Thread Games to make a Mac and Linux verion of Dreamfall Chapters. I personally don't have Mac or Linux, but I am happy to see we've reached this Stretch Goal so that Dreamfall Chapters can reach a much broader audience.

The second Stretch Goal was The Loremaster. I was (and am) very excited about this Stetch Goal. I am the kind of player who walks around in The Elderscroll games reading all the books, gathering all the lore, so this addition to the game made me very happy, especially because the lore in this game is better than in any other games.

When the third Stretch Goal, A Longer Journey, was announced I just knew we had to reach it. Not just because it will bring back a long time favorite of mine, Abanaxus, but also because the mysterious Oular quicky grabbed my attention.

The fourth Stretch Goal, "Mystery is Imporant SeƱorita" took me by surprise. Of course I remembered Lady Alvane, and the House of All World, but I never expected we would get a chance to go back there and explore in Dreamfall Chapters. Well played Ragnar, well played!

We haven't reached the fith Strech Goal yet, but we are almost there... Storytime, which essentially is a recap of The Longest Journey and Dreamfall in the form of an interactive Graphic Novel seems a good way to get new players into the saga.... and if there is one saga that desserves more players, it is the TLJ saga.

There hasn't been a lof of information released about the next Stretch Goals, but with an improved soundtrack, more voice-overs, translations, an in-game gallery, and the ever mysterious TLJH there is more then enough reason for everyone to keep pledging, and upping those pledges.

The first trailer

Hi guys,

So it has been AGES since my last post. Like everyone else I have been following all the new Dreamfall Chapters information released on Kickstarter, but even though we learned a lot of cool things, I didn't have the time to write about it... Yesterday was a very, very important day as it saw the release of a new and amazing trailer.

I first saw this Trailer yesterday evening on my cellphone, I was pretty tired, and I was not as happy with the trailer as I should have been. Would I have written this yesterday it wouldn't have been very positive. But now that I have watched it again, and now that I can see the beauty of it, this post is going to be a lot more positive.

The trailer starts with an unknown woman (who sounds like the White Dragon) telling us that the Sky God has been looking for the Dreamer (Zoe). This omnious sentence confused me right away. At first I found it sounded generic, but then the fan inside me awoke, and I became curious about this "mystery". "Whose Dreams is she dreaming?"

After that the narrator explained the general story of the saga, while we saw some previously released footage again, and some new storytime footage at 1:14 as well. Eventhough this didn't give a lot of insight in the new game, it again made me realize how much I want this game, and how much I want this story to continue.

At 1:46 the best part of the trailer began, introducing Zoe, who was lost in the Storytime, where every story begins... including this one. After that we saw more old and new footage of the game, accompanied by the amazing soundtrack, which couldn't have been more fitting for this trailer.

After showing the Elgwan and a very creepy robot, the trailer ends with: "Where have you gone to Dreamer? Whose story are you dreaming now?" So where has she gone? And what story will she be dreaming? We will have to wait to find out.
